Now Lantmännen Unibake customers can expect more new and innovative breads from the Euro-Bake brand thanks to a $1 million facility expansion in St. Petersburg, Florida.
August 23, St. Petersburg, FL
Phase one of the expansion was the creation of a Welcome and R&D Center. The 7,500-square-foot remodeling project was unveiled today and includes a new 2,200-square-foot Research and Development lab and customer welcome/reception area.
Phase 2, which will be completed by the end of the year, is dedicated to food safety and improvement of employee areas.
- Greater customer collaboration and new product development were core objectives of the company’s investment, said Scott Kolinski, President, Lantmännen Unibake USA. - Our new Welcome and R&D Center will now provide us with more office space and space to conduct meetings with our customers in the creation of new breads, which meet consumer trends and our customers’ requirements, Mr. Kolinski said.
For phase two, Lantmännen Unibake will be enlarging its current bakery’s footprint to make room for new, state-of-the-art personnel hygiene equipment. The fully automated equipment guides employees through aseries of cleaning stations that are required for entry into the bread production area. The stations include boot/sole scrubbing, hand washing, hand drying and hand sanitizing. Phase 2 will also include remodeling of employee locker rooms and break room.
To date, the St. Petersburg bakery has received the highest “A” rating from BRC Global Standards for food safety. “Food safety is a core principle at Lantmännen Unibake. Despite earning an ‘A’ rating by the industry for food safety, we are investing to raise our standards even further. Thiswill ensure that customers of our Euro-Bake breads always receive the safest product,” said Carlos Hernandez, Director of Operations, Lantmännen Unibake USA.
The newly remodeled Lantmännen Unibake facility is located at 230 19th Street South. The space was formerly a storage building across the street from the Lantmännen Unibake bakery facility, located at 1927 4th Avenue South.
