The Triple B - "Black Bean Burger"

The Triple B Vegan Black Bean Burger

Plant based burger with a delicious cashew sauce


Serves 3 people


For patty: 

  • 800 g black beans (well drained)
  • 1 onion
  • 3 burger buns
  • 300 g vegan fraiche or soy yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 300 g fine rolled oats
  • Dash of pepper
  • Oil (for frying)

 For cashew sauce:

  • 450 g cashews
  • 6 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 6 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 180 ml water
  • 3 big mushrooms (sliced)
  • 4 big tomatoes (sliced)
  • Lettuce



For patty:

  1. Slice, chop and fry the onion.
  2. Mash the black beans until almost smooth.
  3. Add onions, crumbled burger buns and other patty ingredients, and mix until well combined.
  4. Form patties and fry. 


For cashew sauce:

  1. Soak raw cashews in water (for at least 2 hours).
  2. Place cashews, yeast, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a food processor and pulse until a coarse texture is formed.
  3. Take the mixture out of the food processor into a bowl and add the water bit by bit until desired texture is reached. 
  4. Slice the mushroom according to preferred size and thickness, then fry it.
  5. Spread the cashew sauce onto the toasted burger buns (bottom and top), add some lettuce, and add the black bean patty.
  6. Top it with 2 slices of tomato, add the mushroom slice and close the burger. Enjoy with ketchup if preferred.
