Oslo Burger joints of choice

Our take at the best True Burger places in the Norwegian capital.

Burger Joint Oslo

Burger Joint

Minnesota raised chef Anne knows her Brisket from her Flank and is the chief architect behind our favourite Oslo burger.

Served from the hatch of an antique Airstream, it doesn’t get more delicious or dive-cool than this place in the trendy harbour area. The Truffle Fries are a highlight  - and the Juicy Lucy a potential Oslo classic:

Burger Bar Oslo

Burger Bar

A 2013 opening - they grill over an open charcoal pit with beef sourced from a single Norwegian farm.

A much larger seating area than the other places on this map - so maybe a better choice for groups. We loved their simple cheeseburger with a squidgy sourdough bun.

Illegal Burger Oslo

Illegal Burger

There’s no sign - apart from the line outside.

Now an established favourite in Oslo, Illegal does a superb charcoal grilled patty and keeps it simple. A True Burger.

We love their graphic design too - see @Burgerac comments here: http://www.burgerac.com/2011/07/illegal-burger-oslo-brand-identity.html

Small, perfectly formed burgers on a limited 5 burger menu. Every one delivers on burger architecture. It's a tiny venue - and you may stand in line. But it's worth it.

Dognvill Bar & Burger

Døgnvill Bar & Burger

Located next to the fabulous premium indoor foodmarket Mathallen - Døgnvill was one of the first Oslo joints to showcase an upmarket burger - with great beef and a homemade bun (Criag even shows you how on their website!) Their shakes are worth the visit alone.
