Lantmännen Unibake plans investments in its fresh bakery business in Finland and the Baltics

To strengthen its footprint within fresh bakery products and drive profitable growth in Finland and the Baltic countries, international bakery group Lantmännen Unibake plans to invest in new high-speed lines. At the same time the company considers consolidating production into its Finnish, Lithuanian and Estonian bakeries.

“Our industry is under increasing competitive pressure to become more efficient, and constantly considering adjustments of our operations is inevitable for our future competitiveness”, says Werner Devinck, CEO of Lantmännen Unibake.   

“The planned adjustments will build a logic continuation of already implemented strategic initiatives within Lantmännen Unibake’s fresh bakery business. We continue to improve our core business in Finland and the Baltic countries”, says Thomas Isaksson, Managing Director of Lantmännen Unibake Fresh Business Area.  

While the plan is to invest in increased oat bread capacity and updating of production capabilities in Finland, Lithuania and Estonia, low capacity utilization rates across the Baltic bakeries lead Lantmännen Unibake to consider ceasing production in Riga (Latvia) and Kotka (Finland).
