BRC Global Standard for Food Safety

The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety is an internationally recognised standard of the British Retail Consortium. It sets out best practices in food manufacture to ensure fulfilment of legal requirements and consumer protection.

Issue 7 of the BRC Global Standard was published in January 2015. This has tightened the requirements for raw material traceability and risk assessments aimed at preventing food adulteration and food fraud. An effective supplier approval and monitoring system must also be in place.
